MirkoG di Brandimarte’s fall 2011 campaign is something of a visual feast, one of striking contrasts. Luxurious looking cuts contrast against the rusting hull of a docked ship. The summer sun radiates through a campaign meant to sell clothes for the coldest seasons of the year. Colours and sheers are utterly out of place. And then there are those sea creatures.
Yet di Brandimarte’s campaign is all the more striking for all the contrasts, conflicts and impossibilities – it moves somewhat away from a static image to become the ad campaign equivalent of a Where’s Wally book. One where you don’t just encounter an upcoming designer’s interpretation of modern fashion, but can continuously explore each image for more detail.
MirkoG di Brandimarte’s fall / winter 2011 campaign continues the collaboration between the designer and photographer Oskar Cecere; last year the pair took di Brandimarte’s clothes to the sea shore, setting model against mannequin in a colour washed evocation of Helmut Newton.
